Eye Care 101

Licensed Optician

Licensed Opticians are optical pharmacists. They fill eyewear prescriptions with visual therapies such as eyeglasses, contact lenses and low-vision aids. They design, prepare, dispense and repair these optical appliances.

Licensed Opticians are advocates for your eyes. They ensure that your eye care options are both current and safe. They provide council about your eye health, in collaboration with Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.

Ophthalmologist

Ophthalmologists are medical doctors that specialize in performing eye surgery. They assess and treat internal eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Optometrist

Optometrists are eye doctors that perform examinations to determine eyewear prescriptions and eye health. They assess and treat external eye diseases and refer internal diseases to Ophthalmologists.
